An evening of mindfulness by the light of the Chanukah candles
Date: Saturday, December 28th, 2024
Time: 7 - 9pm
Location: Astoria First Presbyterian Church (2335 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106)
Led by Rabbi Rachel Goldenberg and Student Rabbi Emily Herzlin
Join Rabbi G. and Student Rabbi Emily Herzlin for an evening of Chanukah-themed mindfulness practice, our second in our series of three holiday-themed mindfulness events this year.
We will gather for meditation, chant, mindful speech and deep listening, while sitting in community in the glow of our chanukiot (Chanukah menorahs). We’ll end the evening with soufganiyot (donuts!) and share stories and poems on the themes of light and darkness.

What to bring:
-
Your chanukiah (chanukah menorah) and candles if you’d like
-
(Optional) A poem or short story to share about light and/or darkness
-
A water bottle if you need one
-
Whatever else you need to be comfortable (There are chairs, yoga mats and blocks, blankets and bolsters at Astoria First, but if you prefer a different meditation set-up, please bring what you need).
This retreat is suited to adults and teens. No prior experience with meditation is required. Feel free to email Rabbi G. with any questions at rabbi@malkhutqueens.org.
